Across Sydney & beyond
Candid family photography in Sydney
for outdoor-loving families
Never staged. Always natural.
I photograph candid outdoor family sessions across Sydney and beyond, at sunset, for 1 to 2 hours. Whether it's just the four of you or an extended-family occasion, sessions start at $795 and your edited gallery arrives 2-3 days later.

Precious family milestones are not a DIY affair
It's time to call in a professional photographer.
Whether it's a small affair or an extended family occasion, capturing a once-in-a-lifetime moment is BIG pressure on one person. And I get the feeling that person could be you.
Will your little one throw a tantrum the entire time? Is there a chance your hubby is going to ruin it all?
Handing over the photo-taking responsibilities to someone who knows what they're doing not only allows you to soak up the moment, it gives you peace of mind. And a sense that everything's going to be alright.

The secret's in getting to know each other
Professional family photography with a human touch
For me, documenting a family milestone begins WAY before our session.
It's a gradual process that kicks off with a pre-shoot consultation where you share your unique story and wraps up with a catch-up where we celebrate the magic we've created on delivery of your print products.
And anything in between feels more like hanging out with a friend than a potentially awkward affair.

“The meeting, in a local coffee shop, was relaxed, kind and thoughtful. Nerissa really put a bunch of apprehensive, self-conscious family members at ease! With seven family members, ages ranging from 4 months to 79 years, Nerissa managed everyone's needs meticulously, with warmth and care. Initial photo proofs were delivered within a few days, with final edits soon after.”

Local to you
Family sessions across the Hills District
Family sessions don't need to mean packing everyone into the car and driving across Sydney. Being close to home means less time in the car, happier kids and more time actually enjoying your session together.
There are plenty of beautiful spots around the Hills District - from open fields and bushland to quiet little corners that give us plenty of room for the kids to run, explore and just be themselves.
And if you're bringing the whole family along, staying local can make things a little easier for everyone to coordinate too.
I'm based in Sydney's Hills District, so travel within 30 minutes is included in your session fee. If you have somewhere further afield in mind, I'm always happy to travel for the right location.

FAQs
Family photography questions
What if my kids won't sit still or behave?
Honestly? They don't need to. Handing the photo-taking over to me means you get to soak up the moment instead of managing it, and I build these sessions around movement and play. Kids being kids is the shot, not a problem. If your little one has a meltdown, we'll go with it and come back to them in a minute.
What time of day is best for a family session?
Sunset. That soft, golden light just before the sun dips below the horizon is warm, dreamy and flattering, and it brings out natural skin tones with beautiful depth in the background. The day slows down, the air cools, and there's a calm that makes it easy to relax and just enjoy being together.
What should our family wear?
Start with Mum. Once she's found the perfect outfit, we'll build everyone else's looks around it. Think coordinating rather than matching, with textures, layers and flowy dresses or skirts. Neutrals with a pop of colour always look great, and I'd avoid thin stripes, large logos and super matchy-matchy combinations. Be ready for some fun too: expect sitting on the ground, running, playing and climbing.
Can extended family join the session?
Absolutely. Whether it's a small affair or an extended family occasion, capturing a once-in-a-lifetime moment is big pressure on one person, which is exactly when it's worth calling me in. We'll plan multi-generation groups at your pre-shoot consultation so everyone knows where to be.
Where do you photograph family sessions?
Across Sydney and beyond, always outdoors and in natural light. We'll choose your location together at your pre-shoot consultation so it suits your family, how far you want to travel and where the light will be on the day.
How does the whole process work?
For me, documenting a family milestone begins way before our session. It kicks off with a pre-shoot consultation where you share your story, and wraps up with a catch-up where we celebrate the magic we've created when your print products arrive. Everything in between should feel more like hanging out with a friend than a potentially awkward affair.
